money money money

It's Saturday mornng, the sun is shining finally, and the kids are happily watching cartoons. My hubby is at work and here I am thinking about how we are going to finance this adoption. I had a dream last night about it and woke up unable to brush it out of my head.
I know I need to trust in God to provide the means for this, if it is what He wants, but I am having a hard time with that. What if it's not what He wants? But why would that be? He refers to the orphans in the bible so many times. I especially like this verse:
"It is not the will of your Father that one of these little ones should perish." Matthew 18:24

So I need to sit back and let Him do His work, not worry about money and finances and trust God. I do need to be a good steward with what He gives us, try to reduce spending on things we don't need. I should probably not go to the mall today like I thought about to buy some new shirts to pack for Texas. I should consider myself and family blessed with what we have and not be so focused on material possessions! I should thank God for the beautiful day and go spend time with my kids instead of on the computer!!!

Let me introduce myself...

My name is Kim and this is my first time blogging, so bear with me! I am creating this blog to keep people informed on our adoption progress and the other events in our lives. We are a Christian family, with 3 kids, ages 4, 8 and 10 years old. We homeschool the kids and are part of a Parent Partnership Program. This is a program with the public school system to help homeschoolers (and for them to get more money!). We go to classes twice a week currently. They go on Tuesdays for 4 hours of classes and on Fridays for just 2. The classes offered are terrific and the kids really learn a lot. They are generally classes that are hard for homeschoolers to do at home like science and art/ music, foreign language, etc. We also get a stipend fund to spend on books and supplies for the year. This program really keeps me on my toes as I can be pretty relaxed about teaching the kids sometimes.

We decided to expand our family by adopting in March 07. We began the process in the beginning of April. We are in the process of doing our homestudy and collecting documents for our dossier. We are doing the adoption independently. We are working through Children of the Promise. They are a creche in Haiti that I found out about through my friend Sarah. She has adopted one daughter from there and is working on bringing her son home soon. The process is lengthy and will be very stressful but we are all very excited.

Sarah and I have been talking quite a bit because I am always calling her up to ask questions about paperwork. She has been working on finding donated medical care for two babies in Haiti. They are coming to the states to have surgery in May! She expressed to me the desire to have a helping hand while she stays with them away from her family in another state. I volunteered to help her with the babies for a week. My husband had the time off work and he happily agreed I should go. So I am going to TX to help with these medically fragile babies. Then they will go home with Sarah until this fall when she and I are planning to go to Haiti to help in at Children of the Promise. We will both be able to watch the joy of the girls' parents as they reunite! Pray for me and Sarah and for the little girls to get better quickly.

God bless
